Database Design

gINT has considerable flexibility with respect to database design. Your database can have as few as 3 or 4 tables and a total of 30 fields or it can contain over 100 tables and have 500 or more fields. The combinations are virtually limitless.

Database fields can use lookups to make data entry easier, faster, and allow standard choices. Default values can be assigned to fields and numeric fields can have minimum and/or maximum limits thus preventing unreasonable values to be entered.

gINT databases can also be designed to be fully compatible with the AGS3 and AGS4 standards.

Report Design

Reports can be created to your design specifications. If you are currently using Excel or a CAD program such as MicroStation or AutoCAD to create your reports you will be able to save time in both data entry and editing by having those reports created in gINT.

By creating "smart" reports you can have one report that will automatically change based on the data that has been entered so that you will not need to remember which report to use with which boreholes. For example, you can have one soil log report that includes well completion data only for boreholes in which a monitoring well has been installed. The possibilites are almost endless with smart reports.

gINT Rules Programming

gINT Rules can be written to provide features such as data validation during data entry or to provide calculations.

Correspondence Files

Correspondence Files can be created to import data from other databases or Excel files or text files into your gINT database. They can also be used to export data from your gINT database.

We have extensive experience working with Correspondence Files.

gINT Data Entry

If you need assistance with data entry we can enter the data for you into your database and then provide you with your report output. We can also work with you to get historical data entered or provide assistance with getting data in electronic form entered into your gINT database. Electronic data might be in the form of data from CPT operators, other databases, Excel files or just plain text files.

Dave is a hydrogeologist / engineering geologist (M.S. South Dakota School of Mines and Technology). He worked for the U.S. EPA and Bechtel National, Inc prior to joining gINT Software and later Bentley Systems, Inc. He has over 20 years experience using gINT Software, including 12 years working for gINT Software and Bentley Systems.
